Well, where to begin... I'm a christian,
and I was for the first 10 or so years of my life. When I was about 10
I started practicing wicca, and did off and on for five years. The reason for this was
because I thought I couldn't be gay and a christian at the same time, and
I wanted to get the last laugh after everything the church had been saying about gays. I decided to go back to christianity last year, when I was 15, and alternated between practicing wicca and going to church. I would go to church on sundays and wednesday evenings, then perform wiccan rituals during the week.
But between September and November, my faith in Jesus got stronger,
even amidst the constant barrage of anti-gay slurs from the pulpit. I reaffirmed my faith, and with each new outrage came a renewed sense of purpose... The more the church tried to destroy me, the stronger I felt.
My beliefs themselves are something akin to quakerism, with a few noticeable
differences:
- Most Quakers completely reject violence and weapons. I believe in using violence and employing weapons only in defense of one's life, liberty, property, loved ones, or country. I believe that when violence is unavoidable, it should be used only with the intention of subduing an attacker, not hurting him, and certainly not killing him.
- Many Quakers (though certainly not all) reject modern technology (especially the internet) as a fallacy of man. I believe that technology, depending on who uses it, can be a wonderful treasure or a dangerous weapon. Morality lies not within a tool, but within the intentions of its user.
- Most quakers dismiss portions of the Bible as man-made regulations. Independent study has shown me that all new testament books accurately reflect the character and will of God as revealed through Christ. And I believe that the Old Testament books contain a wealth of profitable wisdom and historical examples of Christian principles in action, even though Christians are not strictly bound by them.
On the Table below you'll find a basic sumary of my beliefs. Note the scriptual
references in each...my intention was to allow people to verify my viewpoints, or point out any mistakes I might be making. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.
